Capture and storage of large amounts of CO2 in the North Sea's old oil fields are now taking a significant step closer.
The oil company Ineos is now making the final investment decision for the Greensand project, which from 2026 is set to store 400,000 tons of CO2 in the depleted Nini oil field.
- It is a breakthrough for CO2 capture and storage in Europe and thus a significant step towards European climate ambitions, says Mads Gade, head of Ineos Denmark.
