Director for Project Management Excellence

ENABL is seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to take on the role of Director for Project Management Excellence. The primary focus is to build and lead a Project Management Center of Excellence (CoE), dedicated to the development of world-class Project Managers. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in assessing, developing, and enhancing the competencies of our project management team to ensure the organization's ability to meet the increasing demands of a dynamic and competitive market.

As the Director for Project Management Excellence, you will be in charge of building a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in project management. Your strategic vision will shape the development of our project management team, preparing them to excel the complexities of our industry with skills and competences.

Key responsibilities: 

Building and leading Project Management CoE. Focus on shaping the future Project Managers, by e.g.:

  • Assessing competences of current project managers to identify existing skills, knowledge, and areas of improvement. And thereby, creating customized training programs and workshops addressing skill gaps and enhancing project management competencies.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous feedback within the organization, encouraging project managers to provide feedback to their team members, peers, and superiors.
  • Establishing a learning culture that emphasizes continuous improvement, providing resources for project managers to upgrade their skills through online platforms, subscriptions, and internal knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Conduct periodic performance evaluations using a combination of self-assessment, peer feedback, and managerial input to provide a comprehensive view of project managers' progress.
  • Establish individual development plans with each project manager, setting specific goals, skill development objectives, and milestones for growth.
  • Organize periodic skill development workshops to explore emerging project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Support project managers in obtaining relevant professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications.
  • Create a centralized database of project management templates, including project timeline, work breakdown structures, project plans, risk registers, communication plans, and progress reports etc.
  • Develop standardized project management processes and methodologies that can be followed across the organization, documenting and making them easily accessible.
  • Encourage project managers to share lessons learned from their projects and contribute to a knowledge database, fostering continuous improvement in project management.
  • Assign experienced project managers or senior leaders as mentors to provide guidance, support, and feedback on a one-on-one basis.

Success criteria: 
The success of the Director for Project Management Excellence will be measured against the achievement of the following key performance indicators (KPIs) and success criteria:

  • Measurable improvement in increased retention rate
  • Demonstrated improvement in the overall competency levels of project managers, as measured through regular assessments and feedback
  • Successful implementation and monitoring of individual development plans for project managers, with measurable progress toward predefined goals and milestones.
  • Positive feedback and quantifiable improvement in project management competencies from tailored training programs and workshops.
  • Measurable improvement in project manager performance as a result of effective coaching and mentoring relationships
  • High attendance and engagement in skill development workshops, with a demonstrated application of acquired skills in project management practices.
  • Percentage increase in the number of project managers obtaining relevant professional certifications, contributing to enhanced credibility and expertise within the team.
  • Successful adoption and adherence to standardized project management processes across the organization, resulting in improved project outcomes.
  • As the Director for Project Management Excellence in ENABL, you will be expected to regularly report on abovementioned success criteria, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in the organization's

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Senior Project Manager with strong understanding of project management methodologies.
    o    Topics may include leadership, stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, risk management, and agile methodologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in project management and leadership roles.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Extensive experience in providing feedback and nurturing personal growth.
  • Strong experience in working with teams globally.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) is a plus.
  • Visionary in shaping the role
