In 2020, the consumer ombudsman introduced a labeling scheme for electricity from renewable energy sources.
Now the scheme is being rolled back - it is warmly welcomed by energy companies and consumer councils.
- Unfortunately, it has not been possible to agree on the criteria for the leaf labeling scheme, and therefore we are rescinding the guidelines. Electricity trading companies can continue to legally market their products as based on renewable energy, as long as consumers are informed that renewable energy may not necessarily come out of their sockets, states consumer ombudsman Torben Jensen.
