The black gold: Denmark struck it rich on oil and gas

The North Sea Fund significantly increased oil and gas production from the North Sea in 2024, which sent a nine-figure sum into the state treasury

Oil and gas production in Denmark was significantly ramped up in 2024.

In particular, the resumed production at the Tyra gas field drove the development, while the Solsort oil field, which started production in March last year, also boosted output.

Specifically, the North Sea Fund extracted 4.1 million barrels of oil from the ground, a 6% increase compared to the previous year. Gas production rose by 25% to 2.5 million MWh.
