Electricity company accused of misleading with claims of "free electricity"

Modstrøm is frustrated by the assessment from the Consumer Ombudsman: - It does not reflect Modstrøm's business practices

The electricity company Modstrøm has once again come under the scrutiny of the authorities.

The Consumer Ombudsman has just assessed that the company has violated several rules in connection with the notification of price changes in February 2022.

"Modstrøm has used misleading statements about 'free electricity at night' in its marketing. Modstrøm has also acted contrary to good marketing practice, among other things, by notifying changes to customers' electricity contracts without a valid basis in its terms and conditions," it is stated in a press release from the Consumer Ombudsman.
