Ørsted defies massive criticism: aims to maintain price cap

Denmark's largest energy company fears that an easing of the price cap on surplus heat could impair the company's competitiveness in CO2 capture

The price cap on surplus heat has not received many kind words since it came into existence in 2022. On the other hand, the criticism has been unanimous.

Industry organizations, district heating plants, and most recently politicians have all raised issues that the price cap hinders the utilization of surplus heat. The call is for the price cap to be removed.
